Former Tennessee Titans tight end MyCole Pruitt is reportedly set to visit with the San Francisco 49ers for a workout this week.
According to NFL reporter Josina Anderson, Pruitt will fly there on Tuesday and then hold his workout with the team on Wednesday.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler originally reported on Pruitt’s workout with the Niners, and also revealed the tight end had met with the Baltimore Ravens last week.
Pruitt, who has been used primarily as a blocker since coming out of college (and has excelled at it), spent the last three seasons with the Titans, securing just 20 of his 27 targets for 241 yards and four touchdowns.
Fowler notes that Pruitt is looking for a team that can give him more pass-catching opportunities, which might explain why Tennessee hasn’t retained him yet despite their need for a tight end.
While Pruitt would have star tight end George Kittle in front of him in San Francisco, he would have a good shot to land the No. 2 spot on the depth chart, and his ability as a run-blocker would be a huge plus for the Niners.
However, if it’s more of a pass-catching specialist the Niners are looking for, Pruitt hasn’t shown he can offer much in that area other than a reliable set of hands.
