Ex-Titans in the CFL: Bishop Sankey retires, Kendall Wright suspended

Updates on a pair of former Tennessee Titans in the CFL.

It has been a long time since Tennessee Titans fans have heard the names Bishop Sankey and Kendall Wright, but we recently received an update on their respective careers in the Canadian Football League.

The former Titans draft picks, who were teammates in 2014 and 2015, were actually teammates on the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts until now.

According to the Argonauts’ media relations page on Twitter, Wright has been suspended, while Sankey has decided to retire. It isn’t clear what is behind Wright’s suspension, though.

Sankey originally signed with Toronto in 2019 but failed to play in any games during his time there. Meanwhile, Wright was just signed by the Argonauts this year.

Sankey, 28, was a second-round pick of the Titans in 2014, but lasted only two seasons in Nashville before being waived in 2016.

He later had brief stints with the New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings, but never suited up in a regular-season game for any of those three franchises.

Wright had more success in Tennessee, spending five seasons with the team that drafted him No. 20 overall in 2012, but he still ended up being a disappointment overall.

Wright would go on to play in one season for the Chicago Bears after parting ways with the Titans following the 2016 season, but didn’t suit up in the NFL after the 2017 campaign.
