Expert shoots down idea of Redskins trading No. 2 pick, shot at Chase Young

One expert agrees with Redskins fans.

It seems the consensus is most Washington Redskins fans don’t want the team to trade out of the second pick, which would spoil a chance to draft Chase Young.

And NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah is right there with those fans.

Speaking during a press call, Jeremiah said it wouldn’t make much sense for the Redskins to trade out.

“I just don’t trade off of elite edge rushers,” Jeremiah said, according to NBC Sports’ Ethan Cadeaux. “You have a need there at the position, those guys are hard to find. So to get a player like that you would have to blow my doors off to get me to trade off that pick, if I was the Washington Redskins.”

There’s a bit of logic behind the Redskins not necessarily needing another pass rusher after spending a first-round pick on Montez Sweat and still rostering Ryan Kerrigan.

But at the same time, best player available is a very important idea to follow — especially in the top 10. And Young might indeed just be that good of a prospect.

This is a debate that won’t slow ahead of the draft. We might even get Young’s take on the topic during interviews at the combine next week.
