Expert Predictions: Gators Wire staff knotted up on South Carolina outcome

Here’s what the Gators Wire’s experts expect this coming Saturday in Columbia, S.C.

The midway point of the 2023 college football schedule has arrived. A majority of schools have completed at least six of their 12 regular-season games. The Florida Gators are among those teams, having amassed a 4-2 record along the way with three of eight Southeastern Conference matchups completed.

Next up for the Orange and Blue are the South Carolina Gamecocks, who host their visitors for homecoming this year at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia. The Gators are two seasons separated from an embarrassing defeat at South Carolina that sealed former head coach Dan Mullen’s fate in Gainesville.

Last fall, first-year skipper Billy Napier earned a win in the Swamp to pay back USC for their pain. However, a loss this year could bring a world of pain on the current head coach if things go terribly wrong.

Ahead of the Week 7 matchup, the Gators Wire crew assembled to provide their expert opinions on what to expect this coming weekend. The composite score prediction has the group divided down the middle with a microscopic margin separating the two teams this weekend.
