The Miami Dolphins will be without Tua Tagovailoa for at least four games, but his increasingly concerning concussion history has many thinking the team should be thinking of a future without the 26-year-old passer.
While indications are that Tagovailoa “has no plans to retire” after his latest head injury, it hasn’t stopped potential solutions like the Carolina Panthers’ Bryce Young and even Tom Brady from being tossed out.
Former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel has an even more bold idea. He thinks the Dolphins should do a three-way trade with the Panthers and Los Angeles Rams that sends Young to Hollywood and Super Bowl-winning quarterback Matthew Stafford to Miami.
I propose a 3 team trade:
▪️Rams get Bryce Young
▪️Dolphins get Matthew Stafford
▪️Panthers get Dolphins 2nd & Rams 3rd rounderIt’s really not that crazy. @TheFacilityFS1 pic.twitter.com/znLMfRqHQz

The proposed trade would free up tons of cap space for the 0-2 Rams tied up with their 36-year-old quarterback, who is under contract through the 2026 season. And the deal would give the Dolphins a proven starter to take the reins with Tagovailoa out of action.
But is it realistic? Not so much.
The Dolphins don’t seem inclined to make any big moves at the quarterback position and have indicated they’re fine with letting Skylar Thompson take the reins temporarily while they wait for Tua Tagovailoa to return.
And no team is worse off than the Rams, a team that would hypothetically ditch one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks for a second-year passer who has given little reason to believe he has the skills to succeed in the professional ranks. On top of that, the cost of that downgrade is a third-round pick for the Rams.
Rams should not have to move a pick on top of Stafford in any trade. If anything, the picks should be coming to them along with Young https://t.co/tOT5C2hoOO

While speculation can be fun, especially amid troubling times for the Dolphins, the much more likely scenario is that the team will largely blaze forward with the personnel that began the season on the roster.
Don’t count on any players other than Thompson, Tagovailoa, or maybe Tyler Huntley throwing passes for the Dolphins any time soon.
