Ex-Lions safety Jayron Kearse agrees to terms with the Cowboys

Kearse started 7 games for the Lions in 2020

Former Lions safety Jayron Kearse is heading to Dallas. Kearse agreed to terms with the Cowboys on a one-year deal as an unrestricted free agent.

The Cowboys announced the move late Wednesday.

Kearse played in 11 games for the Lions in 2020, starting seven as the team’s primary strong safety. He is also capable of playing the hybrid safety/LB role. He logged 59 total tackles and broke up two passes. Detroit waived him late in the season and he briefly joined the Baltimore Ravens practice squad but never played.

Interestingly, the Cowboys signed Kearse on the same day they hosted free agent safety Damontae Kazee for a visit. Kazee is scheduled to visit the Lions on Thursday.
