Former Detroit Lions right guard Graham Glasgow parlayed four seasons of solid play into a lucrative free agent deal with the Denver Broncos this offseason. It also landed Glasgow on Touchdown Wire’s list of the top 11 guards in the NFL.
Glasgow lands at No. 7 on analyst Doug Farrar’s list. Citing Pro Football Focus stats that credited Glasgow with no sacks allowed and 20 QB hurries in 2019, Farrar sandwiches Glasgow between Richie Incognito and Joel Bitonio.
At 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds, Glasgow has enough power to be a factor in the run game, but it’s his flexibility and technical consistency that sets him apart, no matter which position he plays.
My personal take? That’s a generous assessment of Glasgow and his performance in 2019. Playing through injuries and the Lions’ bizarre guard rotation, Glasgow did well but not that well. There were several games where unheralded Kenny Wiggins was at least Glasgow’s equal along the front for Detroit. For what it’s worth, I’ve charted two sacks that were directly Glasgow’s responsibility through the first 11 games — both on missed blitz pickup assignments.
