Josh McCown has no shame in having been a career journeyman.
The former Jets quarterback had a hilarious one-liner on Monday after news broke that Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes signed a record-breaking 10-year extension worth up to $503 million with the Chiefs. McCown’s response to the historic pact?
“Is this better than a 1 year deal with 10 teams?” McCown tweeted.

McCown has made $48 million over his 17-year career with 11 NFL franchises. So Mahomes will easily pass McCown’s career earnings despite being 17 years younger than him.
While McCown’s money made pales in comparison to what Mahomes just signed up for, the 41-year-old has been a symbol of longevity. McCown has been in the NFL since 2002 and has done rather well for himself despite spending most of his career as a backup. He signed a one-year deal worth $2 million with Philadelphia last season after initially announcing his retirement and accepting a job at ESPN.
McCown is now a free agent again, though it’s unclear if he wants to play in 2020. If not, perhaps he can start a career in comedy. He clearly has a few jokes up his sleeve.
