EXCLUSIVE Video: Ex-NBA player Nate Robinson trains with heavyweight Ron Johnson

Ron “The American Dream” Johnson, who trained with Floyd Mayweather has been helping the former NBA guard train for the September fight.

When news broke that YouTuber Jake Paul would reportedly fight ex-NBA player Nate Robinson as part of the Mike Tyson-Roy Jones. Jr. undercard, it caused a tidal wave of internet chatter and opinion, an add-on to the already hyped bout between boxing legends.

While Paul has released a training/promo video regarding the bout on Instagram, not much was said by Robinson since the original news release.

Until now!

In an exclusive video to USA Today Sports, the former NBA guard sends his thanks to former heavyweight Ron “The American Dream” Johnson, the four-time boxing champ—and current Current GBO Heavyweight Boxing Champion—who has been working with Robinson.

Robinson also released a cut-up of the training session via Instagram, announcing his return to YouTube with Nate’s World:

The fight is scheduled for September, so it will be interesting to see how this video—and Paul’s—ignite the social media world in the interim.

Regardless, it does touch on classic boxing nostalgia. Whether we’re talking Rocky on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art or a contender working the speed bag as the training staff watches on with a determined twinkle in their eyes, the perfect buildup surrounding a boxing match is nothing unless we get a little pre-fight training video.

It’s to boxing what cracks of bats are to baseball—and we are here for it!
