Former Denver Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian is signing a one-year deal with the Tennessee Titans, his agent, Mike McCartney, announced on Wednesday.
Siemian (6-3, 220 pounds) was selected by the Broncos in the seventh round of the 2015 NFL draft after playing college football at Northwestern. Siemian served as a backup behind Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler when Denver won Super Bowl 50 his rookie year.
The following offseason, Manning retired and Osweiler joined the Houston Texans as a free agent. Siemian then surprisingly beat out Mark Sanchez and first-round draft pick Paxton Lynch for the Broncos’ starting job.
From 2016-17, Siemian totaled 5,686 passing yards with 30 touchdowns against 24 interceptions. He went 13-11 as a starter in Denver before being traded to the Minnesota Vikings in 2018.
Siemian served as Kirk Cousins’ backup for one season before joining the New York Jets in 2019. Siemian started in one game in the place of an injured Sam Darnold last year before an injury ended his season.
In a 13-10 loss against the Titans in 2016, Siemian completed 68.63 percent of his passes for 334 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. He was sacked three times in the defeat that dropped Denver to 8-5 on the season. The Broncos went on to finish the year 9-7 and barely missed the playoffs.
In Tennessee, Siemian will likely serve as Ryan Tannehill’s backup.
