One week away from the annual spring game and Steve Sarkisian is still looking for some improvement.
Texas’ offense has struggled throughout spring practice, especially from the wide receiver position. Jordan Whittington is the only name consistently being mentioned as a standout receiver. Jake Smith is out with a broken foot, Troy Omeire is still getting back into the flow, and Joshua Moore has not seemed as the Longhorns’ returning leading receiver.
Of course, the quarterback competition is going to be a topic of discussion. Both Hudson Card and Casey Thompson continue to get first-team reps, trying to earn the starting job for the Sept. 4 matchup against Louisiana.
Sarkisian said both played well on Saturday but also needed to clean up mistakes in the red zone.
Not much was mentioned of the defense as they have been the better of the two units. Next Saturday’s spring game should give us a better showing of how great Pete Kwiatkowski’s squad has been performing in practice.
