Everything Dabo Swinney said after ‘butt-kicking’ Clemson loss to Georgia

Hear from Dabo Swinney after Clemson’s 34-3 loss to Georgia.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney called it a “butt-kicking” and said that he would never forget his team’s loss Saturday.

Fueled by a 28-point second-half surge, No. 1 Georgia dominated No. 14 Clemson, 34-3, in the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

The 14th-ranked Tigers trailed only 6-0 after halftime before top-ranked Georgia reminded everyone why they’re one of top teams projected to take home the national championship in January. Carson Beck was 23 of 33 for 278 passing yards and two touchdowns, and tailback Nate Frazier rushed for 83 yards and a score on 11 carries as Georgia won going away.

“First of all, congrats to Georgia. It was a tough, hard-fought first half and then they just freakin’ kicked our tails in the second half,” Swinney said. “They’re a great team, they’ve been a great team, and they showed in the third and fourth quarter what it looks like.

“Just really disappointed… I thought we did some good things in the first half and there will be some things on tape, but you’ve got to play four quarters and we didn’t do that. When you get beat like that, that’s on the head coach. That’s on me. That’s just complete ownership of just an absolute crap second half… Sometimes you get your butt kicked and we did today.”

Here’s everything the Tigers’ coach said after Saturday’s loss to the Bulldogs.
