With Tyrece Radford out and Wade Taylor having an off-night, Texas A&M needed someone to step up. Hayden Hefner and Andersson Garica answered that call and, in a big way, en route to a 79-52 win over the HCU Huskies.
Hefner was the only Aggie that could score consistently from anywhere on the court and lit up the Huskies for a career-high 24 points. Then, Garcia did what he does best, grabbing every rebound in sight. Coach Buzz Williams made it a point to mention it during his time in the post-game presser.
“It was (Andersson Garcia’s) first college start. I think he’s Dennis Rodman from Columbia. He’s unbelievable. He impacts the game without the ball more than any player I’ve coached.”
After losing back-to-back games and then playing a 2-8 Huskie team, things can sometimes go awry, and focus can be lost. However, Buzz will always make sure to keep his team in the moment and preach that every game matters.
“We always preach trying to be mature and focus on the next thing in front of you. Do your job and try to help somebody else do their job. It’s just second nature.”
This was a good bounce back to get back in the win column with one non-conference game remaining before SEC play starts while ensuring that the Christmas break would begin on a high note. Below, you can watch the Post-game pressers with Coach Buzz, Hefner, and Garcia.
Texas A&M will return home for a game against Prairie View A&M on Dec.30 at 7:00 PM CST.
