After spending weeks keeping himself in the news cycle, Aaron Rodgers’ return fervor is finally (mercifully?) dying down.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the New York Jets signal-caller is highly “unlikely” to actually make a return in the 2023 season after tearing his Achilles in Week 1. Hmm, if only anyone (everyone) could’ve possibly predicted Rodgers was probably just finding a creative (annoying) way to keep himself in headlines. Never mind that Rodgers said he’d like to return to a Jets team pushing for the playoffs (New York is 4-8 and in 14th place in the AFC). The writing was on the wall.
Here’s more from Rapoport and NFL.com:
“After talking to sources throughout the week about Rodgers’ situation, here’s the summation of where it all stands: it’s appearing unlikely that Rodgers plays in a game at all this season.”
News of Rodgers’ return likely not happening until 2024 led to virtually the same reaction in the NFL world.
