It shouldn’t be a huge surprise to anyone — hopefully! — that the NFL draft will be held virtually.
Per a league memorandum tweeted out by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, “clubs have been advised to prepare to conduct the 2020 draft entirely outside their facilities and in a fully virtual format, with club personnel in separate locations and able to communicate with one another and Draft headquarters by phone or internet.”
We have so many questions about exactly what that will entail (Zoom draft? Zoom draft!), but it had a lot of folks comparing it to their own fantasy football drafts, which led to many people making the same joke about who was going to select a player already taken:
My only hope for this Draft now is that a team tries to select a player who’s already been taken. https://t.co/bJs6rfBZ0m

I have Gettleman for "picking a player who has already been taken."

So they'll be drunk and yelling at each other when somebody tries to pick a player who was already taken? https://t.co/eK55Pamc8k

In a memo sent to all 32 teams Monday, Roger Goodell announced that the 2020 NFL draft will be conducted "entirely outside of their facilities and in a fully virtual format."#FantasyFootball style
I hope a team has to take a shot when they select a player that was already taken! pic.twitter.com/5KgPU5G1Td— Mr. Sports (@realMrSports) April 6, 2020
Great, so at least two of them will be late, a bunch of them will keep trying to take players who were already taken, then the draft will just stop at random times because some GM went out back for a smoke.

Here are some other good ones:
Texans fans praying Bill O'Brien puts auto-draft on. 🙏
— Ross Tucker (@RossTuckerNFL) April 6, 2020
Sounds like some fun, who wants to bet gettleman hits auto draft on accident

Which GM will be the one to click on the wrong player?

I’m looking forward to the Bears lagging out and auto picking a kicker
— Ari Levin (@LevinAri) April 6, 2020
Can’t wait to see who gets caught on auto pick

This has the chance to be amazing and hilarious and top-notch entertainment … but only if the NFL broadcasts the livestream. Please make it happen.
