The Indianapolis Colts will be entering the 2022 offseason with several moves to be made after a disappointing end to the regular season.
While we assume the Colts won’t be huge spenders when the market opens in the middle of March, the Colts are still set to have roughly 30 players hit free agency. Some will be re-signed before that while others will hit the market when it opens.
Back in December, we took a look at the pending unrestricted free agents for the Colts in 2022. We will expand that list here with the potential restricted free agents and exclusive rights free agents included.
For those wondering, here’s a quick definition of those types of free agents from NFL.com:
Restricted free agent (RFA): A player with three accrued seasons and an expired contract. RFAs are free to negotiate and sign with any team, but their original team can offer them one of various qualifying offers (“tenders”) that come with the right of first refusal and/or draft-pick compensation. If the tender is withdrawn by a team, the RFA becomes an unrestricted free agent.
Exclusive rights free agent (ERFA): Any player with fewer than three accrued seasons and an expired contract. If his original team offers him a one-year contract at the league minimum (based on his credited seasons), the player cannot negotiate with other teams.
