Addressing the CU Events Center crowd following his final career regular season home game in 2022, Evan Battey made a promise that he’d one day return to the Colorado men’s basketball program.
Well, that day has officially come. Early Monday, CU announced the all-time great Buff is joining head coach Tad Boyle’s staff as an assistant coach/quality control analyst.
Battey played in 133 career games with the Buffs from 2017-22 before playing professionally overseas the past two years.
Here’s what the all-time great Buff had to say about joining Colorado’s staff:
“I’ll bring the energy, the emotion, the experience,” Battey said in a press release. “Just coming from a place that I can relate to the players we have now, in being a former player. I know what they’re going through, and I can add insight and perspective. A lot of communication with the guys. I just want to make sure these guys have the best experience they can have in college basketball.”
Colorado also named CJ Armitage and Tyson Gilbert as graduate managers for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
