ESPN’s updated bracketology pairs LSU with Big East opponent

LSU has moved up in Joe Lunardi’s updated bracketology on ESPN.com. The Tigers are currently projected to face a team from the Big East.

LSU men’s basketball remains in good position to go dancing this March, but they could face a difficult first weekend according to the updated bracketology on ESPN.com this week.

ESPN’s Joe Lunardi updates his NCAA Tournament bracket every Tuesday. On Tuesday, Lunardi officially moved LSU up in his updated bracketology from a 9-seed last week to an 8-seed this week. As of now, Lunardi has LSU tipping off in the first round against Seton Hall of the Big East. Interestingly, Lunardi kept Seton Hall in the same spot in his bracket this week as they were last week, with the Pirates getting the 9-seed in the same region.

Last week, Seton Hall was paired with Duke in the 8/9 matchup in the first round of Region 2, but the Blue Devils have taken a slide down to the 10-seed in the same region in Lunardi’s bracket. Duke’s slide opened up a spot for LSU to move up, and into a new region. Last week, Lunardi had LSU as a 9-seed facing Michigan State in Region 4.

LSU basketball not ranked in Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll

LSU is currently sitting in the same bracket as Baylor, who would face the winner of LSU-Seton Hall in the second round.

Lunardi currently has six teams from the SEC in his bracket. Tennessee and Missouri are placed in Region 1. Alabama is in Region 4 and would face the winner of a play-in game between Stanford and Syracuse. Florida and Arkansas are in Region 3 of Lunardi’s bracket.

Will the next week see LSU manage to move up a little bit more in Lunardi’s signature bracketology? LSU certainly has an opportunity to string together some wins on their home court before the next bracketology update.

LSU vs. Arkansas: Time, TV Schedule and How to Watch

LSU faces Arkansas (10-2 overall, 2-2- in SEC) tonight at home. The Tigers are then scheduled to host South Carolina (3-2, 1-0 SEC) on Saturday. If LSU can win both of those games, then Lunardi may feel the need to push LSU up his bracket by a seed.
