ESPN’s ‘Best Available’ player tracker for the 2024 NBA Draft is live, and Jared McCain and Kyle Filipowski are both inside of the top 20 prospects.
According to ESPN, Filipowski is the 16th overall player in the draft class. McCain follows closely behind in 19th.
Filipowski, the third-highest power forward on the board, offers an enticing combination as a 7-footer who averaged 2.8 assists and knocked down more than 34% of his 3-pointers as a sophomore. He earned Second Team All-American honors for his efforts, and ESPN’s pre-draft analysis calls him “the most skilled big man in college basketball.”
Both power forwards above Filipowski come from overseas. He’s the third-highest American 7-footer behind centers Donovan Clingan from Connecticut and Zach Edey from Purdue.
McCain falls into almost the exact opposite archetype. At 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, the California native battled questions about his size and athleticism by shooting at a 41.4% clip from long-range. He also scored at least 30 points in two different NCAA Tournament games.
McCain is ESPN’s sixth-highest point guard in the class.
Duke is one of five schools with multiple players in the top 20. Only UConn, Colorado, Baylor, and Kentucky matched the achievement.
