ESPN’s matchup predictor forecasts Iowa-Northwestern, remainder of Hawkeyes’ season

ESPN’s matchup predictor forecasted Iowa’s date against Northwestern from inside Wrigley Field and the remainder of the Hawkeyes’ season.

The Iowa Hawkeyes‘ season resumes with a date on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT versus the Northwestern Wildcats.

Iowa (6-2, 3-2 Big Ten) sits tied atop the Big Ten West in a logjam with Nebraska, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Its last game ended in controversy as Cooper DeJean’s apparent go-ahead, punt return touchdown was nullified and the Golden Gophers secured a 12-10 win over Iowa inside Kinnick Stadium.

Since then, news broke that Iowa was moving on from its embattled offensive coordinator, Brian Ferentz. Interim Iowa athletics director Beth Goetz confirmed the news.

That sent the future of Iowa football temporarily into flux. Many wondered what it meant for the future of Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz. After a press conference that left his future in limbo, the Hawkeyes’ longtime head coach clarified the following day that he plans on coaching Iowa into the foreseeable future.

All of it has made for several eventful weeks. Now, it’s time to just go play another football game. That’s probably the best thing for Iowa, too.

Even after all of the craziness, Iowa still has the chance for a 10-win season, a Big Ten West division crown and a trip to Indianapolis.

Following its loss to Minnesota, what does ESPN’s matchup predictor think about the Hawkeyes’ chances the rest of the way? Let’s take a look.
