During an episode of ESPN’s “Get Up” on Wednesday, former NFL player and current analyst Louis Riddick was asked which NFC quarterback he would choose to build his team around. His answer: Jordan Love.
“Jordan Love…that’s the one,” said Riddick. “That’s exactly the way Brian Gutekunst, the general manager up there with the Packers, looks at it. They are betting on the future.”

Riddick chose Love over other respected NFC quarterbacks such as Jalen Hurts, Jared Goff, Matthew Stafford, and Brock Purdy. All four have reached a Super Bowl during their careers, but Love’s talent and upside may best them all.
Last season, Love showed outstanding growth during his first year as a starting quarterback. In 17 starts, he threw for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns while leading Green Bay to a postseason berth and a victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round.
Love’s popularity skyrocketed as the season progressed and his performance improved. His peers recently ranked him at No. 34 in the NFL Top 100 Players of 2024 list.
The Packers clearly agree with Riddick in wanting to build their team around Love, which is why they handed him a four-year, $220 million contract extension, tying him for the highest-paid player in NFL history.
Expectations are certainly high for Love and this Green Bay team entering the 2024 season, but they still have a lot to prove. The offense is still loaded with young talent, and a new coordinator leads the defense with some new pieces added to the mix.
Ultimately, how far this team goes this season may come down to Love proving he is one of the best players in the NFL.
