Texas A&M’s 2023 college football season is still five months away, but that doesn’t mean that every prognosticator can’t begin to weave through the various provided metrics that may accurately, or woefully inaccurately predict the upcoming campaign for the Maroon and White.
On Tuesday, ESPN released their first edition of the 2023 Football Power Index rankings, and for Texas A&M, their forgettable 5-7 2022 season is officially in the rearview mirror as greener pastures are hopefully in sight. According to the rankings, The Aggies, as well as 8 other SEC teams are ranked in the Top 30 including Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Florida, Kentucky, and Arkansas.
For the Aggies, the 2023 schedule is one of their most favorable yet, with home matchups against Auburn, Alabama, South Carolina, and Mississippi State, their road opener against Miami, and an October trip to Rocky Top to take on Tennessee may just define their season.
Led by veteran returners such as wide receiver Ainias Smith, defensive tackle McKinnley Jackson, and strong safety Demani Richardson, the 2023 campaign has the potential to keep fans on their toes for 12 games, and maybe, just maybe, make their first appearance in the College Football Playoffs.
