ESPN’s Elle Duncan had a hilarious reaction to Dennis Schroder’s one-year deal with Boston

He turned down $84 MILLION!

After a shockingly long wait in free agency, Dennis Schroder has a new contract. It’s, uh, not for $84 million.

According to Schroder’s Instagram Story and ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Schroder is signing a one-year deal with the Boston Celtics for the $5.9 million exception. Schroder, who spent just one season in LA, turned down a four-year, $84 million offer from the Lakers in March to instead test the free agency market.

All Schroder could do was watch the last few weeks as the Lakers traded for Russell Westbrook and the rest of the point guard market dried up. The NBA world knew that Schroder would have to settle for far less than $84 million, but the $5.9 million deal was cringeworthy stuff.

SportsCenter anchor Elle Duncan had just about the perfect reaction as news of the deal broke at the end of Tuesday’s show.

So good.

And just think: Schroder had an opportunity to continue as a starting point guard on a playoff team with LeBron James, get paid $84 million and be set for his remaining prime years. Now, he’s stuck backing up Marcus Smart on a fringe playoff team. Yeah, Duncan’s reaction was spot on.
