ESPN’s College GameDay headed to Knoxville for Gators at Vols in Week 4

ESPN’s College GameDay is headed to Knoxville on Saturday to check out the Florida Gators and Tennessee Volunteers.

The College GameDay from ESPN will be in Knoxville on Saturday ahead of Florida’s first road game of the season against the Tennessee Volunteers.

It’s the first time since 2019 that the Gators have been featured on the show and it’s also Tennessee’s first chance to host since 2016 (when the Gators were also in town). The College GameDay crew has been to nine iterations of the Florida-Tennessee rivalry, making it the third most popular matchup in program history.

Florida owns the all-time series 31-20. That record would be even more lopsided had Tennessee not dominated the first 10 games of the series, but it’s been all Orange and Blue for the last few decades. UF has won 16 of the last 17 games, falling in 2016 when the teams were ranked in similar spots.

Florida has experience against ranked opponents this season. The Billy Napier era started off with a big upset over No. 7 Utah and then the team took a step back against No. 20 Kentucky. Things didn’t look great against USF in Week 3, but another upset over No. 11 Tennessee would wipe away some doubt.

A loss likely means that Florida won’t be featured for another College GameDay this season, but a win could make matchups like Georgia, LSU and Texas A&M enticing for the Worldwide Leader in Sports to pick up.
