Florida basketball earned a much-needed win over the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday afternoon, 90-68, to earn its first Southeastern Conference win in three tires. However, the next opponent on the schedule might be the toughest yet given that the game will be played on the road.
Using the Basketball Power Index, ESPN is giving the Tennessee Volunteers 83.7% odds to come out on top by a projected 11.7 points over the Gators. The matchup quality earns an 81.6-point grade, putting it in the top quarter of the games being played on Tuesday.
“BPI is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of performance going forward,” the site reads. “BPI represents how many points above or below average a team is… Game predictions account for opponent strength, pace of play, site, travel distance, day’s rest and altitude, and are used to simulate the season 10,000 times to produce season projections.”
The game will be of the Quadrant 1 variety for Florida while Tennessee is playing a Quad 2 game if the current NET rankings hold firm.
Tipoff between the Gators and Vols is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET inside Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tennessee, and the game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
