ESPN writer not expecting much in Coach Prime’s first season at Colorado

One ESPN writer doesn’t have much faith in Colorado entering 2023

In less than two weeks, Colorado and head coach Deion Sanders will roll into Fort Worth to take on the TCU Horned Frogs to open up the 2023 season. The anticipation of Coach Prime’s first season in Boulder has led to some interesting takes on how quickly he can turn around the Buffs.

According to Mark Schlabach of ESPN, Colorado fans should temper their expectations for the 2023 season despite the hype and excitement.

There has been plenty of hype and controversy surrounding Deion Sanders’ move from FCS program Jackson State to Colorado in the offseason. The Buffaloes are going to be one of the most compelling teams in the country, but they’re not going to be very good. Colorado went 1-11 last season, 1-8 in the Pac-12. Sanders and his staff tried to trade out beans and franks ingredients for beef Wellington overnight, but it won’t make much of a difference. It wouldn’t be surprising to see TCU hang half-a-hundred on the Buffaloes in the Sept. 2 opener.

Schlabach certainly has some strong words in reference to the uphill battle that Sanders and company are set to face in 2023, but the Pac-12 is a top-heavy league and the Buffs will have plenty of opportunities to pull off an upset or two.
