ESPN votes Caitlin Clark unanimous Rookie of the Year, All-WNBA First-Team

It’s unanimous!

What has seemed like a foregone conclusion for quite some time is very close to becoming a reality in the WNBA and the entire sports world.

Caitlin Clark has hit the ground running in her rookie season in the WNBA and is already among the faces of the league, if not the biggest face of the league. She has broken record after record and is just getting started.

Her success has received the deserved recognition, which started with ESPN. In their WNBA awards tracker, they unanimously selected Caitlin Clark as the Rookie of the Year.

Clark has had not just one of the best rookie years in WNBA history, but an outstanding season for a player of any level of WNBA experience. She is averaging 19.5 points, a league-best 8.3 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals. She has set the WNBA single-season record for assists (329) and has helped the Fever make it back to the playoffs for the first time since 2016. Everything the Fever could have hoped for in picking Clark No. 1 — including a gargantuan surge in attendance and merchandise sales — has happened.

Not only did Caitlin Clark shine among her rookie colleagues, but she shined bright against the entirety of the WNBA in her first season.

Along with ESPN selecting her as the unanimous Rookie of the Year, Clark was also a unanimous All-WNBA First-Team Selection.

The other unanimous selections alongside Caitlin Clark included A’ja Wilson, Napheesa Collier, and Breanna Stewart. Kayla McBride and Alyssa Thomas were split on the final spot.

Caitlin Clark has the Indiana Fever with a 20-19 record and a playoff spot already clinched, a stark turnaround from previous years of struggle that plagued the Indiana Fever.
