ESPN to re-air classic Monday Night Football games beginning with Chiefs-Rams 2018

The NFL and ESPN are teaming up to bring us football on Monday night for the next month beginning with a classic Kansas City Chiefs game.

ESPN and the NFL are teaming up to give fans some unique football content over the course of the next five weeks. ESPN will re-air classic Monday Night Football games every Monday night at 7 p.m. CT.

“These games reflect efforts by ESPN and the NFL to deliver fans some of their favorite sports moments as a small but welcomed distraction in the middle of a difficult and unprecedented time,” ESPN spokesperson Bill Hofheimer wrote in a press release.

The class series kicks off tonight, with one of the most exciting games from the 2018 season — Chiefs vs. Rams, Week 11 at the L.A. Coliseum. The game was originally set to be played in Mexico City, but after images of a damaged field surfaced, the NFL moved the game back stateside. The decision led to one of the most exciting games of the season.
The 54-51 win by the Rams marked the highest-scoring Monday Night Football game in history. It also became the first game in NFL history where both teams scored more than 50 points. It had the third-most total points scored (105) and the second-most total touchdowns (14) of any game in NFL history.
While the Chiefs didn’t come out of this game with a win, it was an exciting time for their offense. It would become the first game where star QB Patrick Mahomes threw for over 400 yards in his career. The team moved the ball quickly, with no drives over seven minutes. At the same time, this game underscored why the Chiefs needed a change on the defensive side of the ball. It was the first time in NFL history that a team scored more than 50 points and lost.
