The Philadelphia 76ers were an awkward bunch in the 2019-20 season. They had a lot of talent led by Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, but there were some bad fits on the roster including Al Horford who the team had signed to a big contract.

Horford helped the Sixers become a solid defensive team, but they were a mess on offense due to the lack of spacing and he was then shipped out to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Danny Green. The team then made another move by sending Josh Richardson to the Dallas Mavericks for Seth Curry. Those two additions will help the team’s spacing as they are both some of the better shooters in the game.

The team also signed Dwight Howard to a 1-year deal to fill a need as the backup center to Embiid. Philadelphia has had issues finding a suitable backup who will produce when the big fella needs a break and bringing in a guy like Howard is a big addition.

However, ESPN seems to think that Howard will be in the starting lineup next to Embiid. It’s a little head-scratching given what we all saw with Horford’s fit next to him.

It is hard to imagine coach Doc Rivers starting Howard next to Embiid. The team made the moves they made in order to bring in more spacing for him and Ben Simmons to operate and starting Howard would be the opposite of what they are trying to do. [lawrence-related id=39466,39463,39460]
