NFL legend Peyton Manning is reportedly pursuing a deal with former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick to sign with Omaha Productions, per The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand.
Omaha Productions is Manning’s entertainment company, and his working relationship with ESPN is expected to come into play with there being all-around interest in Belichick. According to Marchand, officials have been briefed on potential plans of pulling together a Belichick and Nick Saban “Manningcast.”
It has been radio silence publicly from Belichick after he parted ways with the Patriots back in January, after coaching the team for the last 24 years.
Meanwhile, Saban announced his retirement from college football after his 17th and final season at the University of Alabama in 2023. He has since agreed to join ESPN’s “College GameDay.”
Marchand wrote:
If Manning were to sign Belichick, the idea of teaming with ESPN to create a Belichick and Nick Saban “Manningcast” is expected to be broached, according to officials briefed on the plans. Saban, considered by many the greatest college football coach of all time, joined ESPN’s “College GameDay” after retiring from Alabama. (ESPN/Omaha could call it the “GOAT Cast.”)
Per Marchand, Belichick has not met with ESPN yet on a potential deal.
The thought of Belichick and Saban possibly teaming up equates to nothing short of must-see television. There’s clearly the football knowledge standpoint with both being the greatest to ever do it in their respective realms.
But some might be surprised from an entertainment standpoint as well. It’s such a genius idea that Manning is leading the charge, despite Belichick-coached defenses causing him headaches throughout most of his NFL career.
