ESPN ranks UGA baseball’s Charlie Condon as No. 1 MLB draft prospect

Georgia baseball star Charlie Condon is expected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2024 MLB draft, which is less than a week away

Georgia Bulldogs baseball star third baseman Charlie Condon completed a historic season with the Bulldogs. Now, ESPN ranks Condon as the No. 1 prospect in the 2024 MLB draft. The 2024 MLB draft will take place July 14-16 in Fort Worth, Texas.

ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel explained (subscription required) why Condon is his top prospect in the draft.

“Condon is narrowly the top prospect in this draft, just ahead of Travis Bazzana. Both have an elite combo of hit, approach, raw power and game power with some defensive value,” said McDaniel.
“The separators for Condon are his underrated combination of hit tool and pitch selection for a player with his power potential, his physical size (6-foot-6), his underrated potential to stick at third base and that he played in the best amateur conference in the country for two seasons.”

Charlie Condon is both Georgia’s single-season and all-time home run leader. The 6-foot-6, 215-pound MLB draft prospect is the best power hitter in Georgia baseball history while hitting a remarkable .433 (best in the country) with 37 home runs, 57 walks, and 78 RBIs. Condon finished an amazing season and is a big reason why Georgia hosted a super regional this year.

Condon earned numerous honors for his 2024 season including winning the Golden Spikes Award and the Howser Trophy. Georgia first baseman Corey Collins is ranked as the No. 146 prospect in the draft.
