When the league year starts and free agency begins, there is going to be a ton of talent on the open market. With such a deep free-agency pool this offseason, it’s hard to shuffle the order of the top guys.
ESPN did their best to rank the top 50 and they have Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Bud Dupree at No. 30 on their list. Here’s what they had to say about Dupree as a free agent.
A breakout season for a pass-rusher in a contract year often means big money. Dupree finally put it all together in 2019, starting all 16 games and recording 11.5 sacks while playing across from T.J. Watt. If he wants, Dupree could price himself out of the Steelers’ budget by entering the open market.
The author makes a perfect point. Whether Dupree stays in Pittsburgh could have much more to do with him than with the Steelers front office. There’s little doubt what Dupree can get in free agency will be more than the max the Steelers can offer him. Will he take a big contract to stay in Pittsburgh or an even bigger one to go elsewhere?
