ESPN ranks LSU football’s transfer class No. 1 in the nation

LSU’s transfer portal class is the best in the country, according to ESPN

ESPN is high on LSU football’s transfer portal haul. The Worldwide Leader in Sports ranks LSU’s class as the best in the country.

“The Tigers are supplementing a top 10 recruiting class with potential impact transfers,” ESPN’s Craig Haubert wrote.

Haubert highlighted LSU’s addition on the defensive line, led by Florida State transfer Patrick Payton. Per 247Sports, Payton is the No. 2 overall transfer in the class, only behind Oklahoma signee QB John Mateer.

LSU made some big moves when it came to pass catchers, too. With Kyren Lacy and CJ Daniels on the way out, LSU signed Oklahoma transfer WR Nic Anderson and Kentucky transfer WR Barion Brown.

Along with the return of Aaron Anderson, LSU is hoping its transfer additions can put its wide receiver core among the best in the SEC.

Nic Anderson wasn’t the only former Sooner to join the Tigers. LSU also signed TE Bauer Sharp — Oklahoma’s leading receiver in 2024.

LSU boosted its quarterback depth, signing former Mississippi State QB Michael Van Buren.
