The Tennessee Titans’ 2023 season was not pretty. This led to Mike Vrabel’s firing and massive player changes on the offense. Bringing in talent through free agency and the draft, the Titans added skill players and linemen to bolster the offense and improve its depth. To that end, ESPN thinks the offensive line is the Titans’ X-factor.
ESPN recently released its projections for each NFL team’s ceiling and floor for 2024.
Ceiling: 9-8 | Floor: 4-13
Biggest X factor: Offensive line improvement
Adding Bill Callahan as offensive line coach will give any group of linemen a significant boost. The Titans doubled down by boosting the talent on the offensive line with first-round pick JC Latham at left tackle and the addition of free agent center Lloyd Cushenberry III. Last year’s unit gave up 64 sacks, which made it extremely difficult to convert third-and-long situations. This year’s group should be much improved, leading to more efficiency on offense. — Turron Davenport
The most wins they predict for the Titans is nine. Last year, they won six games, so it is an improvement, although not much of one. On the flip side, if things go the wrong way, they think the Titans will still win four games.
Given what we’ve seen in training camp and the preseason, the Titans have improved dramatically. If what they have shown us is true and consistent, this ceiling might be a little low. The Titans have the weapons and potential, and if they’re all put together and developed properly, they could surprise everyone.
