ESPN Men’s Basketball Bracketology: Buffs remain out as Washington State now a bubble team

Lunardi’s latest has the Buffs out and WSU as a bubble team

As the NCAA Tournament approaches, Joe Lunardi’s Bracketology will be worth monitoring even more closely. The ESPN expert released another set on Tuesday and the Colorado Buffaloes remain nowhere to be found.

At the beginning of the season, Tad Boyle’s team was right on the bubble, and after a solid start, it looked to be an accurate prediction.

But, things haven’t gone their way as of late, and after an embarrassing 27-point loss to Washington State on Jan. 30, their chances took an even bigger hit.

However, the Cougars, who are now 7-3 in Pac-12 play, did make Lunardi’s latest, although they are one of the First Four Out. For comparison, Oregon has one of the Last Four Byes per Lunardi, and things can definitely shift quite a bit over the next few weeks.

The Buffs have a ton of ground to make up if they want any chance of an at-large bid, and it looks more and more like their only hopes of making it are a Pac-12 Tournament victory.

The Buffs face Utah, Oregon State, Cal, Stanford, Arizona State, Arizona and Utah to finish out the season. Those are mainly winnable games, besides Arizona, which still provides CU a great opportunity to greatly boost its resume.

Nonetheless, putting together a nice winning streak heading into Las Vegas will have them feeling good about their chances, although Lunardi’s latest predictions aren’t doing them any favors whatsoever.
