The Vikings disappointed in 2020, failing to make the playoffs after a postseason win during the 2019 season.
Minnesota did have some positive takeaways from the year, though. Arguably the most positive of all: The Vikings replaced Stefon Diggs with a stellar wide receiver.
Seth Walder of ESPN listed a stat to know for the Vikings, and the stat was related to Jefferson. Walder wrote:
“As a rookie, Justin Jefferson ranked second among wide receivers in completed air yards over expectation and yards after catch over expectation, according to NFL Next Gen Stats. He was a home run pick that should pay off for years to come.”
Jefferson and Adam Thielen are the new wide receiver duo in Minnesota. It’s not often you can trade a player as good as Diggs and get similar production from an NFL draft pick. But the Vikings did that.
The team also needs to hit on another first-round pick in 2021: Christian Darrisaw. A stellar year from Darrisaw could lift the Minnesota offense. With the defense revamped, the team could be a tough out in 2021.
