ESPN has released its annual preseason FPI rankings, and the Badgers are firmly in the mix.
Overall, Wisconsin ranked 20th with a Big Ten foe in Ohio State coming at No. 1. This would be a big step up for Wisconsin from a year ago, but monstrous offseason changes have clearly led to ESPN giving the Badgers some love.
As far as national championship hopes go? Wisconsin has the 17th-best chance to win it all according to ESPN FPI. If you think about where Wisconsin was just a few months ago, that should seem like a pretty good deal entering 2023.
ESPN’s FPI rankings are meant to rely on “past performance on offense and defense, returning and transfer production and past recruiting data for players on the roster to form a rating.”
