ESPN analyst predicts UNC-Duke matchup will have high stakes

The November matchup between the UNC football program and Duke could have high stakes.

The Atlantic Coast Conference schedule continues next week for the North Carolina Tar Heels as they host Syracuse in Chapel Hill. Fresh off a win over Pitt last week, UNC is 1-0 to start play before they get into the meat of the schedule.

This season, the ACC seems to have one clear favorite and a few other teams battling it out for second place. With Florida State getting two ACC wins already including one over Clemson, they are the favorites to reach Charlotte at the end of the season.

And after that, there will be an interesting race to get that second spot with a few teams involved. That includes North Carolina and Duke who will meet in November in Chapel Hill in a game that one ESPN analyst believes will send the winner to Charlotte.

On ESPN College GameDay on Saturday, Kirk Herbstreit said that the winner of UNC and Duke will face off against Florida State:

Now, there’s a long way to go before November 11th when the two teams meet and anything can really happen. If this were to be true, both teams would enter this game with 0 or 1 ACC loss for it to have that meaning.

Clemson would also have to lose one more time and Miami would have to pickup some losses as well. But either way, it appears as if this game will have high stakes still.
