Erik Jones and Legacy Motor Club continue to improve weekly, but the results of the 2024 NASCAR season haven’t been good. Jones sits 27th, while John Hunter Nemechek ranks 31st in the point standings. It has been a rough debut season with Toyota, but it’s starting to turn around. However, will the driver of the No. 43 car be a part of that development?
FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass “thinks” Jones will stay at Legacy Motor Club, even though he doesn’t have a contract for the 2025 NASCAR season yet. The former Joe Gibbs Racing driver was rumored for the No. 19 Cup car to replace Martin Truex Jr., but Chase Briscoe earned the ride. Now, there aren’t many landing spots for Jones in 2025.
Therefore, it makes sense that Jones returns to the No. 43 car alongside Nemechek for the 2025 NASCAR season. Nemechek has a contract for next year, so all Legacy Motor Club needs to do is lock up Jones. The two drivers have a lot of potential to win races in the NASCAR Cup Series, but the equipment must continue to improve for it to occur.
