Emmit Gooden dismissed from Tennessee following arrest.

KNOXVILLE – Redshirt senior defensive lineman Emmit Gooden has been dismissed from the University of Tennessee football program.

Gooden’s dismissal from UT comes after an arrest on a felony charge.

The Brownsville, Tennessee native is accused of hitting his girlfriend in the head with a glass jar candle during an argument.

Gooden suffered an ACL injury during fall training camp last season that caused him to miss all of the 2019 campaign.

In 2018, Gooden totaled 33 tackles after transferring from the junior college ranks.

He was projected as the first-string nose tackle for Tennessee’s defense in 2020, followed by Greg Emerson, Kurott Garland, Elijah Simmons and Kingston Harris at the position.
