Elite DL recruit decommits from Georgia

Georgia football’s biggest commitment in the class of 2025 recruiting cycle has decommitted and is projected to commit to a surprising SEC school

Three-star defensive line recruit Stephon Shivers decommitted from the Georgia Bulldogs. Shivers, who previously reopened his recruitment, is projected to commit to the Vanderbilt Commodores, per 247Sports.

Shivers is a member of the class of 2025 and originally committed to Georgia in March 2024.

The three-star defensive lineman plays high school football for Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee. Brentwood is located very close to Vanderbilt. The 6-foot-5, 365-pound lineman was Georgia’s biggest defensive commitment (by size) in the class of 2025.

Shivers is the No. 485 recruit in the country, the No. 49 defensive lineman and the No. 16 prospect in Tennessee. Shivers projects to play nose tackle at the next level and is a disruptive run defender.

Coach Kirby Smart and Georgia have 24 commitments in the 2025 cycle. Georgia has two commitments from defensive linemen: three-star J.J. Hanne and five-star Elijah Griffin. UGA also has a pair of commitments from quality edge rushers: four-star Darren Ikinnagbon and five-star Isaiah Gibson. Georgia remains favored to land a commitment from five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry.

Georgia football has the No. 3 recruiting class in the nation and the second-best class in the SEC.
