Elijah Moore back with team, expected to be active Week 8

Elijah Moore is back with the Jets, should be available against the Patriots

The hope is cooler heads have prevailed regarding Elijah Moore and his trade request from the New York Jets. After having the weekend away from the team and working out on his own, the receiver returned to the Jets Monday and head coach Robert Saleh said he expects Moore to be active for Week 8 against the New England Patriots.

“He doesn’t need to be alienated,” Saleh told reporters Monday. “We love him. We think the world of him. We know what he can do from a football standpoint and how much he can help us and we just want to help him.”

Saleh added: “We’re not alienating or just moving him off to the side. No one’s trying to turn the corner when they see him walking. We’re going to hit it straight on. He’s still part of this family. And family embraces one another in adversity, they don’t reject.”

Moore’s absence in Week 7 allowed Denzel Mims to be active for the first time this season. Mims played 24 snaps against the Broncos and saw two targets, catching one for four yards. Moore, unofficially, saw one target in Week 6 against the Packers, as the target was negated by penalty.

After tweeting out his frustration after the game, Moore would eventually request a trade later in the week, a request that was ultimately denied by the Jets. The team hopes giving him the weekend away to cool off will help things get back to normal and Moore can be a part of the offense again, especially now with Corey Davis a bit banged up and questionable, at best, for Week 8.
