Eli Manning has some experience with sibling rivalries, given that his older brother is Peyton Manning.
So what does he think of the Kelce brothers facing off against each other on the biggest stage possible in Super Bowl 57? Of course he sympathizes with the parents.
“It’s probably harder on the parents,” said Manning to Sports Seriously. “Just because after the game how can you be so excited and thrilled for one kid, and the other one is going through a really tough time.”
“Since they both play for the offense, he continued, “I’m sure they’ll root for the offense — 50-49 and the kicker misses the extra point at the end of the game to lose.”
I’m sure Donna Kelce, mother of Travis and Jason, would love that result.
Eli faced his brother Peyton three times throughout their careers with much fanfare around each contest, but the younger Manning believes nothing can compare to what Jason and Travis are going through right now, becoming the first brothers to ever play each other in the big game.
“It’s different than a regular season game because you lose a game, you always have next week,” said Manning. “In a Super Bowl, this is the game. It’s the ultimate thrill and I assume it’s the ultimate misery to lose a Super Bowl.”
When asked how he’d prepare for a hypothetical Super Bowl against Peyton, Eli said he’d likely cut off communication closer to the game and keep everything close to the chest.
“[I] wouldn’t talk much. You would not want to reveal anything. Any possible secret, even if it’s your schedule,” said Manning.
