Elden Ring is a smash hit by most quantifiable metrics, but fans on PC aren’t happy about its performance issues.
Over on Steam, Elden Ring currently is sitting at a “Mixed” community rating. There are roughly 37,000 user reviews as of the time of this post, with approximately 40 percent being negative, according to SteamDB. That might not sound too bad, but the hate isn’t really about Elden Ring itself.
Those poor impressions almost entirely stem from complaints about poor optimization issues, primarily stuttering problems. Bandai Namco acknowledged things aren’t up to snuff on PC, already issuing a statement explaining fixes are coming.

Some of the bugs are particularly nasty, such as invisible enemies popping up where they shouldn’t be. Many were hoping Elden Ring’s day one patch would solve all of these problems, but that’s clearly not the case. I can only speak for myself, but the hitching is particularly nasty while doing battle in the overworld.
