Elden Ring: How to beat Godskin Duo

The Godskin Duo is a boss encounter in Elden Ring. Here’s our guide to help you beat the Godskin Duo in Elden Ring.

The Godskin Duo is a boss encounter in Elden Ring. It’s a tough battle if you’re unprepared, made more annoying by having to fight two powerful foes — the Godskin Noble and Godskin Apostle — at the same time. Here’s our guide to help you beat the Godskin Duo in Elden Ring.

Where to find the Godskin Duo in Elden Ring

You’ll battle the Godskin Duo in Crumbling Farum Azula. This is a zone that you’ll visit as part of the campaign after you make an important decision once you’ve finished off the Fire Giant. After a short trek, you’ll find yourself in the Dragon Temple.

Shared HP mechanics: Separating the Godskin Noble and Godskin Apostle

The Godskin Duo boss battle in Elden Ring uses the shared HP mechanic. Although these two creatures have individual HP bars, a copy will be revived after a while. The only way to finish the encounter is to fully deplete the shared HP bar at the bottom of your screen (both will perish regardless of how much HP each has separately).

Speaking of seperation, we do want to keep them far apart. That’s why we suggest shooting the Godskin Noble at the beginning. While it’s already aggressive, shooting it causes it to beeline for you in case it dawdles around. With only one opponent to focus on periodically, you’ll stand a better chance. It’s still the same opponent that you took out in Volcano Manor, so you’ll know its capabilities.

Bringing Spirit Ash summons and avoiding projectiles

Regarding Spirit Ash summons for the Godskin Duo boss fight in Elden Ring, your best bet is the Mimic Tear since it clones a copy of your character. But, if you don’t have access to Nokron Eternal City/Night’s Sacred Ground yet, then the Demihuman Ashes from the Impaler’s Catacombs in Weeping Peninsula might be viable, too. You can refer to our Spirit Ashes guide for more information on what you can bring with you at this point in the campaign.

Moreover, you’ll want to check the arena since the pillars can project you from Shadowfire projectiles, though they’ll also get destroyed by certain boss abilities. You can get hit even while behind the rubble due to iffy angles.

Dropping to 50% and new spawns

Another key factor is looking at each boss’ HP. The moment anyone hits 50%, they’ll do their usual phase 2 mechanics. For instance, the Godskin Apostle will do Stretch-and-Slash, and the Godskin Noble will attack with Choleste-Roll.

They’ll also be surrounded by dark flames and will be more aggressive when gunning for you. So, if you’re playing solo, without ideal summons, or underleveled, you’ll need to prepare for this eventuality. If both are enraged, then you’re going to have a tough time (hence why we suggest focusing on just one and running away to reposition/re-aggro when necessary).

When a boss dies, its companion will summon another variant, making it vulnerable for several seconds. Make sure it’s dead (as opposed to enraged and after you). You’ll simply lather, rinse, and repeat until the full HP bar is depleted.

After beating the Godskin Duo in Elden Ring, you’ll receive the Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing [4] and Ash of War: Black Flame Tornado. Continue onward and you’ll have a shot at battling Dragonlord Placidusax as well.
