Both [autotag]Eddie Alvarez[/autotag] and [autotag]Michael Chandler[/autotag] are down for a trilogy fight.
Alvarez and Chandler engaged in almost nine rounds of carnage in two title fights under the Bellator banner, with Chandler winning their first meeting in 2011 by fourth-round submission and Alvarez exacting his revenge two years later in a close fight.
Since then, they haven’t had the chance to cross paths. Alvarez signed with the UFC after beating Chandler but left for ONE Championship before Chandler eventually made his way to the UFC. Now that Alvarez is a free agent, “The Underground King” would like to return to the octagon to complete his trilogy with Chandler.

Chandler (23-8 MMA, 2-3 UFC) was submitted in a Fight of the Night battle against Dustin Poirier this past Saturday at UFC 281. During the post-fight news conference, Chandler was asked about a potential fight with Alvarez. He was all for it.
“Eddie and I have got some history,” Chandler said. “Eddie and I have made some magic in there. Eddie was a former UFC champion. I would love to see him come back here and get thrown back into the mix, and there ain’t no way that he and I are not fighting if he comes back to the UFC. So, I love the idea of that fight.”
UFC president Dana White was also asked about the fight in his post-fight news conference but didn’t seem too keen on having 38-year-old Alvarez back on the roster.
“Eddie hit me up a couple days ago, but no, we haven’t had any serious conversations,” White said. “I think that Eddie is at a point in his career where you know, we’re always trying to bring in young, up-and-coming guys that hopefully could be world champions some day. That’s what we really look for.”
