Eagles won’t adjust the way Jalen Hurts plays after massive contract extension

On Thursday, Nick Sirianni addressed the media and clarified that the Eagles wouldn’t hide Jalen Hurts, telling the press, “We didn’t pay him more to do less.

Jalen Hurts has a new historic five-year, $255 million contract extension, and with that new money comes even more responsibility.

Head coach Nick Sirianni was asked how the organization would handle Hurts during his pre-draft press conference alongside Howie Roseman.

Sirianni clarified that they’d work to protect their franchise quarterback, but the designed quarterback runs won’t go away.

The comments come after Sirianni was asked about Hurts’ approach to the game, and they came a day after Bills quarterback Josh Allen said he was working to protect himself from injury better.

Hurts missed two games with a shoulder injury last season but recently had his jersey sent to the Pro Football Hall of Fame after two straight seasons of 10+ rushing touchdowns.

That’s a significant strength for the Philadelphia offense, and they won’t be going away from it just because the quarterback makes $51 million per season.
