The move comes one day after Greg Ward had six catches for 40 yards against the Seattle Seahawks in a loss. Matthews had three catches for 27 yards but hasn’t been the big-play threat that Philadelphia needs to help open up the offense down the stretch.
In two games since returning to the Eagles, Matthews has been targeted 12 times, with four catches for 33-yards.
The move ensures that the Eagles believe they’ll have both Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor back into the lineup, along with clearing a spot for Cre’Von LeBlanc.
