Eagles sign QB Ian Book with Jalen Hurts in concussion protocol

Philadelphia Eagles sign QB Ian Book and RB Lew Nichols to the practice squad and release DB Tariq Castro-Fields.

The Eagles could use another quarterback on the practice squad, and on Christmas Day, the team hosted former backup signal-caller Ian Book.

One day later, Philadelphia announced three roster moves ahead of Sunday.

The Eagles waived Book at the 53-man roster deadline last summer, naming rookie Tanner McKee as the third quarterback.

The former Notre Dame star has played just one game since entering the NFL but could be the third quarterback behind Kenny Pickett and Tanner McKee if Jalen Hurts doesn’t clear the concussion protocol.
