Eagles rookie WR could miss start of regular season with ankle, hamstring injuries

Philadelphia Eagles rookie wide receiver Ainias Smith could miss the start of the 2024 season with an ankle and hamstring injuries

Ainias Smith is clearly on the roster bubble, and as the Eagles work to trim the roster down to 53 players, the former Texas A&M dual-threat could start the season on injured reserve.

Ian Rapoport reports that Smith is dealing with ankle and hamstring injuries that could sideline him for the start of the regular season.

Smith caught six of nine targets for 36 yards in Saturday’s 26-3 preseason loss to the Vikings. He also returned one punt for 14 yards.

The 2024 fifth-round pick should push for slot reps on offense and the punt returner role on special teams for the Eagles in the future, but his present day scenario will be spent rehabbing and learning the NFL game.
